Basic Responsibilities of Tenant and Landlord

For renting a house the relationship of the landlord is very important, and there are some rules and regulation for hiring a house as well as there are some responsibilities and right for both landlord and tenant. Responsibility of Tenant

  • Don't leave your home empty for a long period.

Most tenants have the right to stop the landlord from coming in unless they want her/him too. If your landlord or someone acting on her/his behalf harasses you to make life difficult for you in your home, they may be committing a criminal offence.

Responsibilities of Landlord

  • Repairs to the structure and exterior of the property, heating and hot water systems, basins, sinks, baths and another sanitary ware.
  • A basic safety like the safety of gas and electrical appliances.
  • The safety of furniture and fittings provided under the tenancy according to an agreement.
  • Make sure that the property is fit for habitation.
  • Repairing and maintenance in working order the room and water heating equipment.
  • The common areas in multi-occupancy dwellings.
